About

I think one of the most difficult things to do in life is to perceive yourself through an objective and honest lens. That reflection can easily be obscured through your ego, sense of self, physical image, etc. I could try and sit here for the next several minutes and spew a bunch of fluff about how I’m this ‘mysterious author’ or a ‘courageous boat captain’ — but that really wouldn’t be effective when attempting to expose the simple truth that is “me”. Truthfully, I’m just as foolish and naive as they come, with an unhealthy appetite for nonsense coupled with a lust for authenticity. And my feet stink (is that a good online dating bio?). In 2024 I published my first novel, “Shores of Purgatory”. It was more difficult and far easier than I ever could have imagined. I believe most creative endeavors are like that. I also believe we care far too much about being accepted, doing ‘the right thing’, or what literally billions of people we will never ever meet in this life think of us. And it’s a pile of bullshit. Whether we die a swift or slow death, the last thing we probably think about are all the things we could have done — because most of this life is spent accepting the things we have done; living with those consequences. We could all raise our personal standards and simultaneously utilize more compassion for ourselves and others. You are human. You can change just about everything that pertains to your flesh and mind, but you can never change the fact that you are this silly little sack of meat, bones, and stardust — prone to bad ideas and a few outstanding ones along the route of your inevitable death and decay. And with that said, I raise my glass to whoever is reading this and whatever standards you uphold.
